When "Changing the Story" Can be a Good Thing
How many times have you come out of an encounter with a co-worker or a supervisor with your shoulders humped and your inner-confidence shattered to pieces? You know feeling that way is not good for you, but what do you do? Do you wallow in your gloom? Do you walk with a dark cloud over your head? Do you sense how that particular incident has seemingly depleted all your energy and you muster so much from within you just to get through the day? Stop being a victim; and take responsibility for your emotions. You can change them no matter what circumstance it is you're in. You can choose to be happy.
Yes, you can choose to be happy. You have a choice on how to view the situation you're in, and this is through the use of three different pairs of glasses.
1. Reverse
Look at the situation from the other person's perspective. How is he or she feeling? What would she say about what just transpired? Are there other factors that caused that person to act that way or talk that way?
2. Panoramic
How relevant will this situation be to you in three months, six months or one year? How will you view this circumstance?
3. Zoom
Is there a lesson to be learned from this situation? How can you utilize what just occurred as a tool for personal growth?
Always carry these three imaginary spectacles with you to act as your tools in cultivating more positive emotions. Think with the intent of changing how you have initially viewed the situation, and with the goal of forcing yourself to be aware of the different ways of how people interpret facts. You have a choice on how to view a given situation and to recognize how powerful the stories your mind has set for you influences the emotions you feel. Change the stories you tell yourself....identify the facts, make the story hopeful, and watch that cloud over your head get blown away far from you.

Et tu HR??
I just came across this article talking about 3 bold predictions for 2020 for the HR Department, and I do not quite agree about the prediction of an HR Department of all specialists. I do agree though that as an HR professional, you should develop your own personal brand, continuously take professional development courses, find your niche, and network, network, network.
